Elias Demetriou
Head of Assurance
Elias is a Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA) with extensive experience in IFRS Audit and Consulting. He is serving as Director of Demetriou & Associates Business Advisers.
Elias completed his academic journey with outstanding achievements, earning a BSc in Mathematics with Management Studies from UCL London and an MPhil in Finance from the University of Cambridge in the UK.
Following his studies, he embarked on his professional career at the audit department of PwC's London Office, specifically in the Banking and Capital Markets division, where he successfully qualified as an ACA. Notably, Elias also imparted his knowledge by teaching Advanced Investment Banking seminars for Senior Associates during his tenure at PwC. Prior to his return to Cyprus, he gained invaluable experience working in the Risk Consulting departments of both PwC and Ernst & Young in London.
In 2015, Elias joined DFK Demetriou, Trapezaris, where he focused extensively on conducting IFRS audits for investment holding companies and trading companies across various industries. Additionally, he actively participated in numerous advisory projects encompassing areas such as company valuations, financial due diligence, corporate and debt restructuring, and establishing substance in Cyprus, among others. In 2017, Elias played a pivotal role as one of the founding members of Demetriou & Associates Business Advisers Ltd.
Beyond his role at the firm, Elias assumes non-executive directorship positions in public companies and holds the position of head of the audit committee at a prominent Insurance Company in Cyprus, showcasing his commitment to corporate governance and financial oversight. In addition to his ACA qualification, he has also obtained the Certificate in Business Valuations from the ACCA.
Elias actively contributes to the profession acting as vice president of the International Operations and Foreign Investments Committee of the Institute of Chartered Certified Accountants in Cyprus (ICPAC), further solidifying his dedication to advancing the field of accounting and promoting international collaboration.
